Edmonton, AB – The Edmonton Oil Kings return to action after six days off this afternoon as they welcome the Victoria Royals to the City of Champions. It will be the final Family Fun Sunday of the season presented by Mott’s Fruitsations and the Edmonton Sun. The Oil Kings are making their return to Rexall Place after a five game road trip which saw them take eight of a possible ten points.
Last week Edmonton became the first team in the WHL’s Eastern Conference to clinch a spot in the 2013 WHL Playoffs. The Oil Kings have an overall record of 41-12-2-3 with 14 regular season games remaining. Edmonton currently leads Calgary by seven points for top spot in the Eastern Conference with a game in hand. In 2011-12, the Oil Kings took home their first Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy with a record of 50-15-3-4 as the league’s regular season champions. Edmonton has been on fire as they matched their franchise high of 11 straight regular season wins prior to Sunday’s loss to the Swift Current Broncos. In their last 12 games, the Oil Kings have outscored their opponents 60 – 16 while posting four shutouts.

The Oil Kings will complete the Family Day weekend with a game on the holiday Monday at 2:00 p.m. versus the Prince George Cougars. Both of these special events will include a kids zone with lots of inflatables and carnival activities for the kids.
