Swift Current, SK – The Oil Kings will play the final game of their current five game road trip today as they take on the Swift Current Broncos. Edmonton is currently on an 11 game winning streak and have an overall record of 41-11-2-3. The defending WHL Champions are 11 points ahead of Calgary for top spot in the Eastern Conference and rank second in the entire WHL. Edmonton is six points back of the Portland Winterhawks in the race for the 2013 WHL regular season title.
This will be the final of four games between the Broncos and Oil Kings in 2012-13. Edmonton holds a 3-0-0-0 record over the Broncos this season. After meeting four times in the 2011-12 Regular Season the Oil Kings swept the season series over the Broncos with a 4-0-0-0 record. In the last five seasons the Oil Kings have amassed a 14-2-1-2 record vs Swift Current.
Oil Kings forward Michael St.Croix is third in the Oil Kings scoring race with 68 points and is currently on a 12 game point scoring streak. The New York Rangers draft pick has 119 goals and 177 assists in his Oil Kings career – both are Oil Kings club records.
Phoenix Coyotes 2012 1st round draft pick Henrik Samuelsson is tied with linemate Dylan Wruck for the Oil Kings scoring lead with 70 points. At tenth in the WHL they co-lead the four Oil Kings currently in the Top 20 WHL scorers. Samuelsson and sophomore Curtis Lazar co-lead the team with 29 goals.
