Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Michael St. Croix of the Edmonton Oil Kings is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 22 after picking up 10 points in three games scoring six goals and four assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-7.

St. Croix led the first place Oil Kings to three straight wins last week giving them 69 points to lead the WHL’s Eastern Conference Standings.  Last Wednesday night he scored his first of two hat-tricks during the week as first star of a 5-0 win over the Prince George Cougars.  St. Croix then picked up a pair of assists in a 6-1 road victory over the Swift Current Broncos on Friday night before matching a season-high with five points as first star of a 9-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders on Saturday where he scored three goals and two assists.

St. Croix, an 18-year-old from Winnipeg, MB, is currently playing in his third full WHL season with the Oil Kings.  A fourth round pick of the New York Rangers in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, St. Croix is currently ranked third in WHL scoring with 31 goals and 46 assists for 77 points in 48 games played. He is the first Oil kings player in the modern era of the franchise to recieve the honour.
