Mohr and Kope Score in 7-2 Loss to Rebels
The Edmonton Oil Kings closed out a six-game road trip on Friday night in game one of a back-to-back against the Red Deer Rebels where Red Deer defeated Edmonton 7-2.
Oil Kings Kobe Mohr and David Kope both scored for Edmonton but the team was unable to stop the Rebels offence. Rebels Kristian Reichel recorded his first career Western Hockey League (WHL) hat trick in the game.
The Oil Kings would strike first on Friday night as Kobe Mohr would take a nice feed from Brendan Semchuk in front sending it past Lamb to make it 1-0 Oil Kings just 26 seconds into the game. Brendan Semchuk and Wyatt McLeod would pick up the helpers on the play. The Rebels would also score in the first courtesy of Mason McCarty to make it 1-1 after the first frame.
In the second period, the Rebels would score three goals, two from Kristian Reichel and one from Arshdeep Bains to give Red Deer a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes. In the third period, Reichel would score his third goal of the game flooding the ice with hats at Enmax Centrium for the hat trick. Midway through the frame, David Kope would score an unassisted shorthanded goal to make it 5-2. Rebels Brandon Hagel and Hunter Donohoe would add two more to make it a 7-2 final.

With less than a minute remaining in the second period Rebels left winger Arshdeep Bains shot beat Todd Scott to put Red Deer ahead 4-1 after 40 minutes.
PLAY OF THE GAME:
Tigers right winger Mason McCarty would score his 28th goal of the season on Friday night midway through the first period. McCarty would finish the night with three points (1G, 2A).
PLAYER OF THE GAME:
Rebels centreman Kristian Reichel recorded his first career Western Hockey League (WHL) hat trick on Friday night against the Oil Kings. Two of the three goals were scored in the second period, the first at 3:37 and the second at 17:59 of the period. The third goal came shorthanded at 4:28 of the third period.
UNSUNG HERO OF THE GAME:
Oil Kings right winger David Kope would net his eighth goal of the season shorthanded at 10:02 of the third period against the Rebels. With the shorthanded marker Kope now leads the team in short-handed goals with two.
