The Edmonton Oil Kings closed out a three-game road trip on Friday night against the Medicine Hat Tigers where they were defeated 6-4.
Tigers captain Mark Rassell opened up the scoring on Friday night, shooting the puck past Todd Scott at 2:46 to give Medicine Hat an early 1-0 lead. Just over five minutes later, David Kope netted his 13th of the season to tie the game. Tigers left-winger Ryan Chyzowski put the Tigers back ahead scoring his 20th of the season on the powerplay to make it 2-1 midway through the frame. Elijah Brown added another goal for the Tigers before time expired in the first period to give Medicine Hat a 3-1 lead over Edmonton through 20 minutes.
In the second frame, Ethan Cap sent a quick shot past Tigers netminder Michael Bullion to put Edmonton within one, Jake Neighbours and Liam Keeler picked up the assists on the play. Tigers centreman Jaeger White collected his 10th of the season sending a shot past Todd Scott to give Medicine Hat a 4-2 lead. Late in the period, Bullion would turn the puck over to Oil Kings captain Colton Kehler in front, Kehler would send a one timer to the back of the net to put Edmonton within one heading into the third period.
Midway through the third period, defenceman Conner McDonald’s one time shot beat Bullion to tie the game 4-4. At 13:33 of the period, Tigers right-winger Josh Williams scored on the powerplay to put his team ahead by one. James Hamblin added another goal on the powerplay late in the period to give Medicine Hat a 6-4 lead. The Tigers would hang on to knock off the Oil Kings 6-4.

Oil Kings Tomas Soustal would head off for a double minor late in the third. Josh Williams would capitalize on the powerplay to put the Tigers ahead 5-4 with just over six minutes remaining in the period.

Medicine Hat goaltender Michael Bullion made a great stop on Kobe Mohr late in the third period to maintain his team’s 6-4 lead.
PLAYER OF THE GAME:
Tigers defenceman David Quenneville finished Friday night’s matchup with four assists. Two of Quenneville’s four assists were picked up on the powerplay.
UNSUNG HERO OF THE GAME:
Oil Kings right winger David Kope continued to produce up front on Friday as he opened up the scoring for Edmonton against the Tigers netting his 13th of the season.
