Oil Kings drop 6-4 decision to Rockets

Edmonton, AB – Edmonton Oilers draft pick Kristians Pelss notched a pair of goals and an assist in a losing cause as the Oil Kings fell 6-3 to the visiting Kelowna Rockets on Wednesday. The loss was only the fifth regulation loss at home for the Oil Kings in the 11-12 season. After three second period power play goals the Oil Kings were able to pull back within one to make it a 4-3 game at the end of the second. Kelowna then pulled away with a pair of third period goals with under ten minutes to play.

Michael St. Croix made history once again as he tallied his 39th goal of the season – breaking the modern franchise record. St.Croix now has 93 points to lead the team and rank fifth in the WHL scoring race. Rookie Tristan Sieben notched his third of the season for the other Oil Kings marker.

Despite the loss Edmonton remains four points ahead of Moose Jaw for first place in the WHL’s Eastern Conference with 11 games left on the schedule.
