Oil Kings fall to Hitmen in Pre-Season Action

Despite five different Oil Kings finding the back net Friday night, Edmonton fell to the Calgary Hitmen 6-5 in overtime.

“It’s fast hockey. Fastest I’ve ever played,” said 15 year-old Dylan Guenther, one of the Oil Kings’ goal scorers. “They came at us hard. It was a good game I thought.”

The Oil Kings held a lead into the final minute of play before Ty Carriere tied things up for the Hitmen, leading to an extra frame.

“It was a lot faster than the last couple of pre-season games,” said Matthew Robertson. “We did a lot of good things right. But we just have to be better. Play a full game.”

The Oil Kings look to end the pre-season on a high note in St. Albert next Friday against the Red Deer Rebels. Puck drop is 7:00 PM at the Servus Credit Union Place and holds a $10 cash admission at the door.
