Training Camp Comes to a Close

The Edmonton Oil Kings’ main camp wrapped Wednesday night with the annual Red versus White game.

Team Red, coached by special guest and former NHLer Matt Kassian came out on top 6-3 over Team White who was coached by former NHLer Jason Strudwick.

Despite the loss, the game was highlighted by third year Oil Kings Brett Kemp’s hat trick for Team White.

“I played with a few very good line mates,” said Kemp. “I guess things were just clicking good with us.”

The game capped off a week of rookie camps and main camps for the Oil Kings before preseason gets underway in September.

“For me, especially after being injured at the end of last season, it was really nice to finally play hockey again,” said Ty Gerla.

Preseason rosters are expected to be announced Thursday morning.
