2019-20 Promotional Schedule

The Edmonton Oil Kings are excited to announce 10 theme games as part of their 2019-20 Promotional Schedule.

The schedule features eight returning games from last season, including Home Opener, Star Wars Night, Teddy Bear Toss presented by The Brick, New Year’s Fireworks Frenzy, WHL Suits Up with Don Cherry presented by RE/MAX, Superhero Night, Fan Appreciation Day and Team Awards.

New to the schedule this season will be United Against Cancer and Cartoon Festival.

The Oil Kings are also pleased to announce the return of Family Fun Sundays presented by Global. All eight Sunday home games at Rogers Place will feature an in-game concourse carnival and post-game team autograph session.

The first promotional game of the season was the Oil Kings Home Opener on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 4:00 PM MT versus the visiting Red Deer Rebels.

The first of 34 games at Rogers Place, fans had the opportunity to celebrate last season’s regular season Central Division title along with a Rally Towel giveaway.

One of eight Family Fun Sundays presented by Global, the game featured an in-game concourse carnival and post-game team autograph session.

 

CARTOON FESTIVAL

Join us for the first-ever Cartoon Festival when characters from some of your favourite childhood cartoons roam the concourse when we take on the Seattle Thunderbirds at 7:00 PM.

Make sure to stay post-game and watch a classic cartoon on the videoboard in the main bowl! After all, it’s Saturday night and you get to sleep in on Sunday morning!

Returning again this season is the ever popular Star Wars Night; the first specialty jersey game of the season. Fans will have the chance to bid on these jerseys via silent auction on the concourse during the course of the night.

The force will be with the Oil Kings as they take on – from a galaxy not so far, far away – division rival, the Calgary Hitmen, on Saturday, November 9 at 7:00 PM MT.

In one of the most anticipated games of the season, the Teddy Bear Toss presented by The Brick once again returns to Rogers Place on Saturday, December 7 at 7:00 PM MT. Bring your new or gently loved stuffed animal wrapped in a clear plastic bag and throw it onto the ice when the Oil Kings score their first goal of the game against the Calgary Hitmen! All donated animals are gifted to families in need in our community just in time for the holiday season, in partnership with 630 CHED Santa’s Anonymous.

If you thought last year’s jerseys were wild and one-of-a-kind, wait till you see the bear-y great concept we’ve come up with when we take to the ice on December 7! Fans will have the chance to bid on these jerseys via silent auction on the concourse during the course of the night.

Give a huge thumbs-up for WHL Suits Up with Don Cherry to Promote Organ Donation – another specialty jersey game – and a rematch of the 2019 Eastern Conference Championship against the Prince Albert Raiders on Friday, January 17 at 7:00 PM.

Fans will also get a chance to take home a limited edition Don Cherry Bobblehead!

 

UNITED AGAINST CANCER

The team will host its first United Against Cancer night on Saturday, February 1 against the Winnipeg ICE at 7:00 PM. Fans are encouraged to wear purple to the game, while toques will be on sale on the concourse in support of a local charitable organization.

Upon entry, fans are encouraged to pick up a sign and take part in a special pre-game ceremony honoring those whose lives have been affected by cancer.

The Oil Kings close out the campaign on home ice with their annual Team Awards on Saturday, March 21 versus the Red Deer Rebels at 7:00 PM. See who will take home this season’s awards such as Rookie of the Year, Most Improved and Most Valuable Player, to name just a few.

Fans can get up close and personal with the awards, which will be on display on the concourse until the second intermission.
