EDMONTON OIL KINGS (11-7-1-1) vs. MEDICINE HAT TIGERS (9-8-0-2)
Edmonton Road Record (5-5-1-1)
Medicine Hat Home Record (5-3-0-1)

Season Game: 21   Road Game: 13

ON A ROLL – The Edmonton Oil Kings are undefeated in regulation in their last seven games (6-0-1-0), following a 5-2 win over the Kootenay ICE last night in Cranbrook. They began the season with a 5-0-0-0 win streak before dropping their following eight games (0-7-0-1), six of which were on the road, before riding their current point streak.

FIRST GOAL WINS? – The Oil Kings have scored the first goal of the game in ten of their 20 games played this season. They are 10-0-0-0 when scoring first, and 1-7-1-1 when surrendering the first goal.

TAKING THE LEAD – Oil Kings captain Trey Fix-Wolansky returned to the lineup last night after dressing as a member of Team WHL for Games 1 and 2 of the CIBC Canada Russia Series in Kamloops and Langley, BC earlier this week. He factored into the team’s scoring at the showcase, earning an assist on the game winning goal in Game 1.

He registered a goal in last night’s action, extending his point streak to eight games with six goals and 22 points during that span.

He currently sits tied for first in the WHL scoring race with 12 goals and 28 assists for 40 points in 20 games played. He leads the League outright in assists with 28.

UNFRIENDLY CONFINES – The Oil Kings have endured more than their fair share of struggles over the last five years in Medicine Hat, as the Tigers have turned in a 9-1-0-0 record when Edmonton comes to town during that span. The Oil Kings, however, laid claim to the victory in their first meeting this season, picking up a 3-2 win at Rogers Place on September 26.

WHAT A DEBUT – Oil Kings’ forward Tyler Horstmann made his WHL regular season debut last night in Cranbrook vs. the ICE and it was a memorable one, as the 15-year-old, Richmond, BC native scored his first WHL goal in his first game, on his first shift, with his first shot to also pot the first goal of the game.
