GAME SUMMARY: Oil Kings roughed up in Brandon

Brandon, MB – The Edmonton Oil Kings finished their three-game East Division road trip with a loss in Brandon to the Wheat Kings on Saturday night.
In the first period, the Wheat Kings carried the play, outshooting the Oil Kings 11-3 and taking a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
Dawson Pasternak opened the scoring for the home-side just 90 seconds in after he was able to hoist a backhander over the left-arm of Kolby Hay from the Edmonton doorstep on a Brandon power play.
With four minutes remaining in the period, Brandon furthered their lead on a goal from Rylen Roersma who was able to jam home a loose puck in the Edmonton crease after Hay had made an initial save on a Wheat King odd-man rush.
In the second period, the Wheat Kings pushed their lead to three after Nolan Flamand converted on a centering pass from Calder Anderson 3:38 into the middle-stanza.
The Oil Kings were able to get on the board midway through the period after Loick Daigle collected his second power play goal in as many games after he snapped home a shot over the left pad of Carson Bjarnason from the right-circle on a setup from Gavin Hodnett.
Before the period was out though, the Wheaties restored their three-goal advantage thanks to a shorthanded goal from Nolan Ritchie.
Noah Boyko got Edmonton back within a pair of goals with his 16th goal of the season just over three minutes into the third period, but that is as close as they would get after Brandon poured in six unanswered goals to finish up with a 10-2 win.
Hay turned in 31 saves for the Oil Kings, while Bjarnason had 17 for the Wheat Kings. Edmonton went 2-for-6 on the power play, Brandon was 2-for-5.
