Oil Kings announce 2021-22 promotional schedule
Edmonton, AB – The Edmonton Oil Kings are excited to reveal eight theme games as part of their promotional schedule for the 2021-22 regular season.
Headlining the promotional schedule once again will be the Oil Kings 14th annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by The Brick on Saturday, December 4 against the Moose Jaw Warriors. The 2019 Teddy Bear Toss saw the team collect a record 16,491 bears and was the fourth straight sell-out.
Cartoon Festival will also return for a second season along with several other fan favorites:
- Home Opener – Friday, October 1 vs. Red Deer Rebels
- Cartoon Festival- Saturday, October 23 vs. Medicine Hat Tigers
- United Against Cancer – Friday, November 19 vs. Prince Albert Raiders
- Teddy Bear Toss – Saturday, December 4 vs. Moose Jaw Warriors*
- Family Day Fireworks Frenzy – Monday, February 21 vs. Winnipeg ICE
- Superhero Night – Friday, March 4 vs. Calgary Hitmen
- Fan Appreciation Night – Friday, March 18 vs. Calgary Hitmen
- Team Awards – Sunday, April 3 vs. Red Deer Rebels
*Specialty jersey to be worn
In addition to the eight theme games, the Oil Kings will bring the classroom to Rogers Place on Tuesday, February 8 as they play host to the Regina Pats at 11:00 AM for their annual Hockey Hooky game.
Family Fun Sundays will return to Rogers Place for Sunday afternoon home games featuring the concourse carnival starting Sunday, October 17 vs. the Red Deer Rebels and ending Sunday, March 27 vs. the Lethbridge Hurricanes. All Sunday games are scheduled for 4:00 PM starts.
The Oil Kings will wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule with a pair of home games against the Swift Current Broncos on Friday, December 17 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, December 18 at 4:00 PM. The team will then vacate Rogers Place to make room for the 2022 World Junior Championships and return to home ice on Tuesday, January 11 to take on the reigning WHL Champion Prince Albert Raiders at 7:00 PM.
