Oil Kings select Jesse Seppälä in 2019 CHL Import Draft

The Edmonton Oil Kings, with the 52nd selection in the 2019 CHL Import Draft, selected forward Jesse Seppälä of Tappara (Jr. B SM-sarja).

Seppälä, 17, played in 45 games between Tappara this past season on both the U18 and U20 teams combining for 48 points (17G, 31A). Jesse was named a 2nd Team All-Star in the U18 league this season.

Born in Espoo, Finland, Seppälä played 24 games for Finland U17 collecting 12 points (4G, 8A) highlighted by 3 points (1G, 2A) in 6 games at the World U17 Hockey Challenge where Finland won a Silver medal.

“We are very excited to have Jesse join the Oil Kings family,” said Oil Kings President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kirt Hill. “He is a skilled 200-foot forward that can play centre and the wing. He had an outstanding season in both League and international play where we got to see him play at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

“We look forward to welcoming Jesse to Edmonton at training camp this August.”
