A complete breakdown of all Oil Kings Central Division clinching scenarios


With the regular season winding down into its last week, the Edmonton Oil Kings have accomplished something they haven’t done in two seasons – earn a berth in the WHL Playoffs.

Even more exciting, they have the chance to cap off the regular season with a Central Division crown for the first time since 2013-14.



Magic Number to clinch Central Division: 1

The race for the Central Division is coming down to the wire between the Oil Kings and Lethbridge Hurricanes.

As of Friday, the Oil Kings lead the Central Division with 88 points and 40 wins. The Lethbridge Hurricanes have 86 points and 38 wins. The Oil Kings and Hurricanes each have two games remaining.

The Oil Kings can clinch the Central Division with a Lethbridge regulation loss to the Red Deer Rebels on Friday night, or any of the alternate scenarios listed in red below.
