Rookies Report To Camp

Edmonton, AB  A “King Sized” contingent of hockey hopefuls have 1 day under their belts at the 2007 – 08 Edmonton Oil Kings rookie camp.  Servus Credit Union Place in St. Albert was buzzing with dozens of hopefuls trying to impress a full staff of Oil Kings management, coaching staff and a full compliment of scouts.  The recruits were put through a handful of practices leading into a series of inter-squad games where the rookies could really “show their stuff”.

“I’ve really been impressed with the overall talent and skill level of all the kids.” says Oil Kings head coach Steve Pleau.   “You’d think with 95 kids or so, that the talent field would be watered down a bit but that hasn’t been the case at all.  The scrimmages have been productive and pretty even overall.”

Day 2 of rookie camp goes Saturday at Servus Place with 2 on-ice sessions from 8 am – 2pm followed by an evening session from 5pm – 10pm. The camp concludes on Sunday afternoon. All sessions are open to the public.
